Christmas 2011 |
I was just reading over the last post about Nativity House. Back then we had not even put out the first issue of The Visitation. I could argue that Nativity House is what takes up my blogging time! For sure.
Since the last post much has happened. The word that would best describe the year and a half would be growth. I am definitely a different person. Happy - the supernatural kind. That happens when you are on a path closely monitored by The Paraclete. (We all are - That will have to be a post for another day.)
I work mostly full time these days. I am the person that cares for those children in the elementary program that have special ways of learning. I have the privilege of getting to know these children a bit deeper, learning their learning styles and helping all the knowledge sink in to the best of their ability. It has been really humbling work in the best ways possible. Maria Montessori has empowered the teacher in so many ways but most importantly she designed a philosophy that teaches above all - the child is a dignified being with an intense desire to learn.
Some handmade Goat's Milk Soap |
On the one or two afternoons a week that I don't work at Seton Montessori, I am working to get Nativity House up and running. Sometimes it feels like opening our doors is right around the corner. Other days it seems like it will be years before we have our first moms living with us. While hospitality is the biggest part of what we aim to do, there is much more to what Nativity House will be.
Our one year anniversary edition came out in December. We are working on the Lenten Issue now. We have started our round table panel discussions. We have had two so far and the third of the series is coming up in March. We are also making and selling our own sheep/goat's milk soap. This has been a real learning experience. The ingredients foreshadow the sheep and goats we hope to have at Nativity House some day in the not so distant future.
Gracie is four and a half. She is growing into such a well spoken, thoughtful young lady. She loves life. She is an Irish dancer these days. We are gearing up for the St. Patrick's season. It's a season when you are an Irish dancer - no longer just a day. She is quite good at it. We will see if we survive the first St. Patrick's Season supporting our Irish dancer. Will she like performing as much as she loves the dancing? Only time will tell.
Now what to do about this blog. I will be writing again. I will be giving up Facebook and focus my efforts here. There is much to discuss. Hope to see you here.
