from The Ladder of the Beatitudes

I always break this book out for Lent. Seeing as now I am preparing for the Lenten issue of The Visitation I have been reading up early.

I stumbled across this prayer that struck a particular chord with me at this point in my life.

O Lord and Master of my life, take from me the spirit of sloth, faint-heartedness, lust for power and idle talk, but give to me, your servant, the spirit of chastity, humility, patience and love. O Lord and King, grant to me to see my own faults and not to judge my brother. For blessed art thou unto the ages of ages. Amen.
